Onam, the vibrant and cherished festival of Kerala, holds a special place in the hearts of Keralites and our Sibro team is no exception. This year, we embarked on an unforgettable Onam journey, surrounded by the mesmerizing beauty of Alleppey’s backwaters. It was a day filled with tradition, togetherness, and endless joy, and we can’t wait to share the details of our wonderful Onam celebration held on August 26, 2023.
Our Onam adventure began as we boarded a charming houseboat that had been our floating venue for the day. The excitement was palpable as the boat’s horn sounded at around 11 in the morning, signaling the start of our memorable journey. We found ourselves on the deck, surrounded by the serene backwaters of Alleppey, ready to embark on our floating Onam extravaganza. One of the most enchanting aspects of Onam is the creation of the Pookalam, a colorful and intricate floral carpet that adorns entrances during the festival. Our team wasted no time and got to work, crafting a stunning Pookalam that paid tribute to this age-old tradition. The vibrant colors and intricate patterns were a testament to our dedication to preserving and celebrating Kerala’s rich culture.
Games and Merriment
Onam isn’t just about flowers; it’s also about coming together for fun and games. We organized a range of exciting activities, including traditional games like ‘Dumshell Arts’ and ‘Musical Chairs.’ Laughter filled the air as team members of all ages enthusiastically participated, bonding and creating lasting memories.
The Royal Feast a.k.a Onam Sadya
No Onam celebration would be complete without the grand Onam Sadya, a sumptuous feast featuring a dazzling array of traditional dishes. Our team indulged in mouthwatering delights, including a delectable variety of fish and chicken dishes that left our taste buds dancing with joy. And of course, the grand finale was the heavenly payasam, a sweet treat that melted in our mouths.
More Fun and Laughter
The afternoon session was a continuation of our joyful celebrations. More games, more songs, and more camaraderie ensured that the spirit of Onam was alive and well throughout the day.
